Letter in Support of Senate Resolution 52

SIGNATURE COUNT: 131

The IRF Community and the Congressional Working Group circulated a letter addressed to Majority Leader Thune, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Jim Risch, Minority leader Chuck Schumer, and Ranking Member Jeanne Shaheen in support of Senate Resolution 52. Introduced by Sen. Lankford and co-sponsored by a growing bipartisan coalition, this resolution recognizes religious freedom as a fundamental right, solidifying support for international religious freedom as a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy, and expressing concern over increased attacks against religious freedom across the world.

This letter highlights the growing global threats that face the International Religious Freedom movement and emphasizes the effectiveness of similar legislation in the past, leading to the release of prisoners, legal reforms, and global cooperation. Quickly passing this resolution will reinforce U.S. leadership and improve protections for individuals worldwide.
