Declaration in Support of Fundamental Human Rights and Human Dignity in japan

Declaration in Support of Fundamental Human Rights and Human Dignity in japan

The IRF Community, Universal Peace Foundation, and Washington Times Foundation circulated a declaration underscoring the fundamental importance of freedoms of thought, conscience, and religion as essential human rights rooted in human dignity and protected by international frameworks such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and national constitutions. It highlights the growing global violations of these freedoms due to prejudice, extremism, authoritarianism, and cultural intolerance, with specific concerns raised about recent religious intolerance in Japan targeting members of the Family Federation. The declaration calls on governments, organizations, and individuals to uphold and protect these rights, educate for mutual respect, reject persecution, and refrain from language that demeans or discriminates against differing beliefs. It appeals for an immediate end to the unjust persecution of religious groups in Japan, condemning actions that violate constitutional protections and international principles. The declaration advocates for fairness, mutual respect, and the universal affirmation of freedom of conscience and religion.
