Letter IN Support of the Uyghur Policy Act (S. 1252)

Letter in Support of the UYghur Policy Act (S. 1252)

The IRF Community and Uyghur Human Rights Project circulated a letter asking the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to mark up the Uyghur Policy Act. The Uyghur Policy Act (S. 1252) represents a critical step toward holding the Chinese government accountable for its egregious actions in the Uyghur homeland. By establishing a clear framework for addressing human rights abuses, this legislation sends a powerful message that the United States stands in solidarity with oppressed communities around the world. The House version of the legislation (H.R. 2766)  has already passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee with over 100 cosponsors.

Given the urgency of the situation and the growing international concern regarding the plight of the Uyghur people, we are writing to urge Senators Cardin and Risch (Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee) to prioritize the markup of the Uyghur Policy Act.

HOSTED BY UYGHUR HUMAN RIGHTS PROJECT.
